Major Life Update Alert: We are moving to Denver next month!
We canβt wait to put down roots and make Denver our home. It was a whirlwind moving from Dallas to Philadelphia, unpacking, preparing for Charlie, jumping full throttle into newborn life, having a husband working full time while getting his MBA, and oh yea, throw in that whole global pandemic for good measure, all while being thousands of miles away from our family and friends. This time has made us all reflect on whatβs most important, and for us we realized how far away we were from family, especially as direct flights out of Philadelphia were cut and travel became so much more difficult. We are SO thankful for a baby who is an amazing, happy traveler (#keepingupwithcharlieboy), but all the flights and scheduling and time changes take a toll on you eventually even when your little one is such a trooper. When Will was offered a job he couldn’t pass up that was closer to both our families, we knew it was meant to be.
To be honest, we never really imagined raising a family in Colorado, but the more research we did and people we talked to (huge thank you to everyone so willing to help us make connections!), the more we could really picture ourselves there. My family grew up going to Steamboat every summer and my younger sister is a senior at Colorado School of Mines in Golden, so we already have some fun Colorado memories and now canβt wait to create more. We loved exploring the East Coast while we could and will miss the quick train rides to New York, the famous local “water ice,” our favorite ice cream spot, and Will’s school friends, but we are thrilled to start the next chapter of our lives.
We are currently in packing mode as we prepare for a hopefully brief few months in a temporary apartment while we search for our home. It’s a crazy way to kick off the year, but crazy is all we know these daysβbring it on, 2021! I never knew I would live on the East Coast, and now here we are hopping over to the mountains. Just another reminder for us that while we never know where life will lead us, with our faith and the loving support of family and friends, we will treasure every minute of the ride.
After all the painful moving is done, we do need some fun things to look forward to, so if anyone has any tips, tricks, or favorite spots in Denver, please send them my way!
